Catch the Mouse! (2023)

A little mouse accidentally scares a peaceful herd of elephants and they’re forced to follow their enraged leader into the thick African jungle to find and kill it.

My graduation film at Lucerne School or Design, Film and Art, Bachelor in Animation. It was my first experience directing a crew on an animated film and working with other animators, which helped me improve my communication skills while making me learn how to delegate my work to other people. With the help of my teachers I learned the basics of film producing, how to apply for funding, making a budget and planning how to spend the money efficiently.

The intention with this film was to take classic cartoons we all know and love from the 50s and 60s and play with the expectations we have of them to tackle more serious themes.

Catch the Mouse! was screened at Locarno Film Festival, CINANIMA International Animated Film Festival in Portugal, and Notte del Cortometraggio in Ticino.

Below are model sheets and early concept art for the film, all done by me.
